President's Letter

Dear credit union member,

I’m pleased to announce that the Peach State FCU C.A.R.E.S. Foundation recently awarded almost $200,000 in scholarships and educational grants to students and members throughout our service area this year. Our scholarship program has awarded over $1.9 million to area students and members furthering their education since 2001. Congratulations to this year’s recipients! On behalf of the Peach State C.A.R.E.S. Foundation, we wish them all great success in their future endeavors!

In other C.A.R.E.S. Foundation news, we recently joined forces with four other Georgia credit unions to raise nearly $30,000 in support of the Ukraine Humanitarian Fundraiser. The funds were raised thanks to the generosity of members and employees at these credit unions. All proceeds benefit the Ukrainian Credit Union Displacement Fund that was created by the World Council of Credit Unions and Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions. The goal of the fund is to provide financial support for the short- and long-term impacts to the Ukraine’s credit union system.

In our ongoing efforts to continue providing quality member service, I’m excited to share that our website is being redesigned. This summer we’ll be introducing a new website that will feature a modernized look, easier navigation, and an enhanced member experience. We recognize the importance of providing an online experience that is equal or superior to the service you’ve come to rely on when visiting one of our branches. It is our hope that the new website will provide greater convenience and efficiency when interacting with us, whether it’s to access your accounts, apply for a loan or take advantage of one of the many helpful services that are available to you as a member. Be sure to keep an eye out for updates in the coming weeks!

As always, thank you for the opportunity to serve the financial needs of you and your family.

Marshall Boutwell

Protect Yourself From Fraud

Debit Card Management Made Easy!

Fraud can happen to anyone at any time and result in severe financial loss. Whether your card is misplaced, forgotten at a restaurant, or stolen, you should take these immediate steps to lessen the chances of becoming a victim of fraud. Luckily, you have the ability to deactivate or turn off your debit card – temporarily or permanently – through Online and Mobile Banking.

To temporarily deactivate or turn off a misplaced debit card:

  • Log in to Online Banking and click “Debit Card Management” from the side menu bar.
  • Log in to the Peach State Mobile Banking app, click the hamburger icon to access the side bar navigation menu, then click “Debit/ATM Card Management”.
  • Once logged in, find the card you want to deactivate and click “Turn Card Off”.
  • Confirm you want to turn the card off.
  • The status of the card will change to temporary hold.
  • When you’re ready to turn the card back on, simply click “Turn Card On” and confirm you want to turn the card back on.

To permanently deactivate or turn off a lost or stolen debit card:

If you’re certain your card is lost or stolen and you want to permanently turn it off, click “Report Lost or Stolen”. Your card will be deactivated and can no longer be used.

With these self-service options in Online and Mobile Banking, you can quickly deactivate your card any time, day or night.

Prices are Soaring, But Where Can We Cut Back?

BALANCE offers FREE resources for budgeting and finding ways to cut back spending.

While we can’t change what’s going on in the world with inflation, we can help you find ways to cut your spending and save money. At Peach State, we’ve partnered with BALANCE, a financial education and counseling service, to provide members with FREE resources for creating a spending plan that can help you save money during times of rising costs. Understanding your budget and finding ways to cut back will help you stretch your dollars.

Here are some quick ways you can get started.

  • Cut back on eating out and pack a lunch instead.
  • Cancel unused subscriptions – you can always resubscribe when you have a little more extra cash.
  • Swap out name-brand items for a less expensive alternative.
  • Carpool with co-workers to reduce gas costs.

Another way to save money is to consolidate your credit card debt. By transferring balances from cards with high interest rates to a lower rate card, you could enjoy a more manageable monthly payment and possibly payoff your balance faster. We offer a variety of Visa Credit Cards with fixed-rates as low as 6.9% APR and 0% for six months on all new purchases and balance transfers!1

1 APR – Annual Percentage Rate. The 0% introductory APR applies to purchases, cash advances and balance transfers. Offer applies to new Visa Credit Card accounts only and may expire at any time; does not apply to account upgrades. If you are upgrading from a rewards card to a non-rewards card, then your points will expire at the time of the upgrade. The 0% APR is effective for the first six statement periods following the opening of your account. The APR will return to the annual percentage rate of your approved card type after the promotional period, or if you fail to make a minimum periodic payment during the promotional period within 60 days from the due date for that payment. Rates range from 6.9% to 14.9%. A $15 application fee is charged for processing. Subject to credit approval.

Annual Meeting Recap

Celebrating 60 Years!

On April 20th, members and staff gathered in person for Peach State’s 60th annual meeting. This was the first time we were able to hold an in-person meeting since 2019. David Welden, the Chairman of our Board of Directors, welcomed everyone and shared his remarks as did our President/CEO, Marshall Boutwell.

The following incumbents were elected to the Board for three-year terms: Robert Bradford, Lenzy Reid, David Welden, and Kay Yetter. Following the meeting with members, the Board of Directors held their regular business meeting.

Peach-State-Employe-Patrick-Head-ShotWe also welcomed Patrick Franklin as the newest member of our Supervisory Committee. Patrick will work with the rest of the committee members in reviewing Peach State’s annual regulatory exam and audit reports, ensuring the credit union continues to operate in a safe and sound manner while remaining in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this year’s meeting!
